Flowers, Secrets & Finding Community in Los Feliz

Sometimes exploring a neighborhood isn't about finding a landmark.

It's about finding a person.

While filming content for the launch of Finding Places by Nicole, I stopped by the Los Feliz Flea and came across Doomsday Flowers, whose offer immediately caught my attention:

“Flowers for secrets.” 🌹

How could I say no?

So, naturally, I spilled the tea. 🤭

What started as a fun little moment during a day of filming turned into something much more meaningful. I left with beautiful flowers, but more importantly, I left with a genuine conversation and words of affirmation I'll never forget.

And that's the part of exploring Los Angeles that I think doesn't get talked about enough.

The People Are Part of the Place

Los Feliz has plenty of beautiful architecture, great restaurants, independent businesses, and access to Griffith Park.

But neighborhoods aren't really defined by those things alone.

They're defined by the people who show up.

The vendors.

The artists.

The small-business owners.

The neighbors.

The people who remember your name.

The people who make you feel welcome when you're still figuring out whether a place could become home.

That's what I experienced that day at the Los Feliz Flea.

Finding Your Place

When I created Finding Places by Nicole, I wanted to explore Los Angeles beyond the obvious.

I wanted to understand what makes each neighborhood feel like itself.

Sometimes that's architecture.

Sometimes it's a coffee shop.

Sometimes it's a hidden trail.

And sometimes it's a flower vendor who gives you flowers for secrets and leaves you with a little more encouragement than you expected.

Those moments matter.

Because sometimes, finding your place is really about the people you meet along the way.
